The Dreaded Burned Out Feeling
Right now, at 27 years old, I'm more concerned about financial stability..for my future. Some of my office mates are starting to scout for new jobs - after all, we're almost 2 years into the company and nothing much has happened. I've learned now not to expect any kind of enriching learning as I did with my first job - if I was in here only for the money, then it's a pity since I was not able to save any, tsk.
I fear sometimes that I'm just wasting my resources away.. well I am studying MBA so I think that's an investment.. but what shall I do in the future? What shall I become? Hmmm...
At least I'm thankful now that I've finally learned to save. I shall not look back on then past with regret but strive on to build my future..today. Sounds like an ad for real estate or insurance or a bank, sheesh. hehe

Jouissance!
Right now, I don't want to think about the future just yet. I'll just try to get through and ENJOY each and every day.. experience it as if for the first time.. jouissance.
Ah heart and mind should be in sync. The heart flutters, its hard to think haha!
FIRST TIME by LIFE HOUSE
We're both looking for something
We've been afraid to find
It's easier to be broken
It's easier to hide
Looking at you, holding my breath
For once in my life I'm scared to death
I'm taking a chance, letting you inside
I'm feeling alive all over again
As deep as the sky under my skin
Like being in love, she said, for the first time
Maybe I'm wrong, I'm feeling right
Where I belong with you tonight
Like being in love to feel for the first time
The world that I see inside you
Waiting to come to life
Waking me up to dreaming
Reality in your eyes
Looking at you, holding my breath
For once in my life I'm scared to death
I'm taking a chance, letting you inside
I'm feeling alive all over again
As deep as the sky under my skin
Like being in love, she said, for the first time
Maybe I'm wrong, I'm feeling right
Where I belong with you tonight
Like being in love to feel for the first time
We're crashing
Into the unknown
We're lost in this
But it feels like home
I'm feeling alive all over again
As deep as the sky under my skin
Like being in love, she said, for the first time
Maybe I'm wrong, I'm feeling right
Where I belong with you tonight
Like being in love to feel for the first time
Like being in love she said for the first time
Like being in love to feel for the first time

Bleeding Love Take 2
Emo song for emo moments like these...
Closed off from love
I didn't need the pain
Once or twice was enough
And it was all in vain
Time starts to pass
Before you know it you're frozen
But something happened
For the very first time with you
My heart melted into the ground
Found something true
And everyone's lookin 'round
Thinking I'm going crazy
But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open
Trying hard not to hear
But they talk so loud
Their piercing sounds fill my ears
Try to fill me with doubt
Yet I know that the goal
Is to keep me from falling
But nothing's greater
Than the rush that comes with your embrace
And in this world of loneliness
I see your face
Yet everyone around me
Thinks that I'm going crazy, maybe, maybe
But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open
And it's draining all of me
Oh they find it hard to believe
I'll be wearing these scars
For everyone to see
I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
I keep bleeding
I keep, keep bleeding love
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love
You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding
Keep, keep bleeding love

Sexual attraction: the magic formula
From The Sunday TimesMay 28, 2006
This article first appeared in New Scientist
“I met this girl, let’s call her Becca, in a random bar in Clapham one Wednesday evening. I was with a group of mates and we just got talking. I was a bit tipsy, but I definitely fancied her — she was just my type — so I suggested we hook up. When she left, I gave her a gentle peck on the cheek.
Heart on Sleeve
We've been spending soooo much time this week!! As in almost everryyyy single dayyyy...
....since I'm helping him with his Opman paper....
....since this is the last week until Aldrich arrives....
....since we might not be able to meet for 3 whole weeks...
but we might be able to meet on the last week of August since Aldrich is in the province and I need help with Finman finals....
and I should not get too attached even if it's so hard not to... hayyy
what is this that I've gotten myself into.. but you know... sabi ko nga.. I'd rather experience the hurt + happiness than not experience anything with him at all
I dunno why i so freakin' love him.. but i do, i do, i do. I just do.. hheheh
Random thoughts while I'm doing the paper
Then he does something endearing and I smile and all the hurt and pain is forgotten. I like the feeling actually.. maybe it's like a 'sick cycle carousel' but I feel more alive! I feel true to myself.. this is how I've always been when I'm in love with someone. i feel crazy but I feel alive, so much more than ever.
and I dunno how I'm gonna pull of the transition successfully! I cannot multitask guys! My heart is only comprised of 100% and so the only way is to share. Sheesh.

Hanging by a Moment
Starving for truth
I'm closer to where I started
Chasing after you
I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you
Forgetting all I'm lacking
Completely incomplete
I'll take your invitation
You take all of me now...
I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hanging by a moment here with you
There's nothing else to lose
There's nothing else to find
There's nothing in the world
That can change my mind
There is nothing else
There is nothing else
There is nothing else
Desperate for changing
Starving for truth
I'm closer to where I started
Chasing after you....
I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hanging by a moment here with you
Just hanging by a moment (here with you)
Hanging by a moment (here with you)
Hanging by a moment here with you

Condo Living 101
My first lesson was don't forget to lock the door! hahah
My second lesson was learn HOW to lock the door!
And so many have followed afterwards! I share a condo unit with MK, my philo block mate back in first year college. I get the enclosed room while she stays in the open space since she prefers it that way. So far, I've done a hundred things that I would never do in my own house...
...make my own bed...
...prepare my own breakfast...
...attempt to cook oatmeal...
...throw the trash!...
...sweep the floor!!...
...clean the bathroom!!..
...hang my own clothes!!...
...hang curtains!!...
...wake myself up!!!...
...be self-sufficient....
Recently, I wanted to replace a burned out light bulb near the kitchen sink so I can see the dished that I am washing but it's been about a week and I still haven't gotten to replacing it for the mere fact that I don't know where to start. I've been bugging various people in school, in office, at home, in the US.. barraging them with questions about halogen lamps hahah
I even found a website with step by step instructions on how to change the light bulb: ehow.com. But I think i should call the maintenance person instead (if ever I can get home before 6pm) to just change the light.
With great freedom comes great responsibility!!

The Unbearable "Ewanness" of Being
I hate this "naeewan" feeling coz I never know what to do to make it go away, usually I go by the comfort food route which is why I ate a lot today!!!
I ate my 2 snacks during the morning snack time
I had this dessert after lunch: Blueberry Morning from California Berry
I ate my dinner during early merienda time
I had this late afternoon snack: Schublig with Cheese on a bun
SHEESH
Since those tactics have not been working and just left me full but still restles.. I've actually thought of the following remedies but at the back of my mind I know that they will not suffice
> go to the mall
> hang out at fully booked or powerbooks
> watch a movie
Right now I'm just blasting music to my head hopefully it will help...
I do not want to go to the gym...I'm thinking of just going home then netting.. I have a YM conference at 930pm..so I hope I get to analzye the case that I read last night (which made me fall asleep early!) hehe
argh!!!!

"Lines, Vines and Trying Times"
I was actually having second thoughts on whether I'd buy a CD or not since I've already gotten the torrent of their new album, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" but haven't started downloading it via microtorrent.
What really changed my mind was going to Music One and seeing that half of the store has been blocked off to give way to an office supplies store! They were also having these DVD/VCD sale outside the store and when I went in, the aircon was not turned up to its usual level! Less aircon always means that the business is trying to cut down on operating expenses and in my mind, it's a red flag already. :-(
So there, I bought the CD for Php 495 and after listening to it and watching the added videos inside, I am definitely not regretting the purchase at all :)
I ripped the CD into my WinAmp and felt like a COUGAR after seeing the genre: "Tween Pop" What?? Hahaha I also registered for official mail and it just had to ask the age! I was at the 2nd to the last highest demographic!!! 25 -29 sheesh...
On the brighter side, it actually means that I'm a kid at heart :p I like Jonas Brothers' and Miley Cyrus' upbeat songs but if I were to choose, I'd go for JB since I was able to listen to their first two albums without skipping a track. In this latest one, my current favorite is "Much Better" - there's some oldish vibe to it, after that, it would be "Poison Ivy. "
I really appreciate that the album insert had the lyrics of each song, tons of pictures of the brothers and anecdotes before each song!!! They really know how to feed the fans!
I was thinking that David Cook should do something similar but scratched that thought right back due to the ff reasons:
a) his fans are not tweens
b) it would lessen his credibility as a serious artist and enhance his celebrity status
c) it's just his first album (an aside: I find it interesting that magazine writers still refer to albums as "LPs" when this literally means Long play (LP) record albums.
Anyway, I'm on a bit of David Cook hiatus right now, which was NOT really triggered by this, you know. Coz technically, I, as a fan should just care about his music and not really his personal life ;p lol! hahaha
So, just so you know, David Cook has been replaced in my office and home desktop wallpapers hahah but of course I'm still a fan..I'll just let that piece of info above fade away a bit. In the meantime, I'll shift to cougar mode :p
Back to School!!!
My lone class this term is in Ortigas Campus (LSGH) on Saturdays at 8am in the morning!!
I am not a morning person, thus, I was late for class last Saturday but I have to say that it was exceptionally convenient to get to school.. I only needed to ride a jeep that passed by on the outer portion of our street and then go down the overpass and voila! I'm in school. Just a mere Php 14 going to school and back. I'm lovin' it!
Makes me think, "What if my office was in Ortigas?" I could ride the G-liner going to work and going back home..a humongous amount of savings that would give me.. but my company doesn't have a branch in Ortigas so I'll leave that to wishful thinking.
Anyway, so this term I'm taking up Financial Management and we have a weekly group paper to submit and 2 group reports on top of midterms and finals. I like to start the term organized so I have this sense of control over what's gonna happen and more often than not, it makes me stick to the schedule and encourages me to put in extra effort
Tuesdays
- for written group reports: YM conference at 930pm
- for group reporting: meet up at RCBC campus (right after office)
Saturdays @8am - 11:15
- class!!!
Plans:
1) Bring my eyeglasses
2) Bring a voice recorder
Weekly After Office Schedule
* Monday - read the case / read teacher's blog (non-negotiable)
* Tuesday - gym and get home in time of the meeting (meeting is non-negotiable)
* Wednesdays - go to church small group meeting (non-negotiable)
* Thursday - do part in paper / homework (may change but basically need to get paper done before Sat)
* Friday - do part in paper (may change but basically need to get paper done before Sat)
* Saturday - class then go to gym in the afternoon then to the mall (order of gym / mall may vary; activities may change)

Lie
In response to this, I want to tell this to David Cook...
"Lie" makes me tear up every time I hear it.. it's such a sad song.. I can feel the raw emotion in your voice.. and I guess some hidden part of me knows that for months now, I'm just putting up this strong facade pretending that I'm okay but deep down I'm really sad and lonely ..It's like I'm lying to myself...which is probably why this song has such an intense impact on me.
Nevertheless, I'm still optimistic that I'll eventually be able to overcome this situation and the time will come when I wouldn't have to lie to say that I'm alright...
Lie
(Bjorklund / Cook / Lind / Maloy)
You whispered that you were getting tired
Got a look in your eye, looks a lot like goodbye
Hold on to your secrets tonight
Don't want to know I'm ok with this silence
It's truth that I don't want to hear
You're hiding regret in your smile
There's a storm in your eyes
I've seen coming for a while
Hang on to the past tense tonight
Don't say a word, I'm ok with the quiet
The truth is going to change everything
So Lie to me and tell me that it's gonna be alright
So Lie to me and tell me that we'll make it through the night
I don't mind if you wait before you tear me apart
Look me in the eye and lie, lie, lie
I know that there's no turning back
If we put too much light on this we'll see through all the cracks
Let's stay in the dark one more night
Don't want to know
I'm ok with the silence
It's truth that I don't want to hear
Don't want to believe in this ending
Let the camera's roll on
Keep pretending
Tomorrow's all wrong if you walk away
Just stay

Gahh.
Just a while ago, i was feeling purposeful and organized and now I'm just sitting in front of the pc watching AI videos again and facebooking and trying to find that inspired feeling once again...
Tsk! I gotta overcome this!!! This is the cause of sleepless nights, dark eyebags and extra trips to Starbucks!

I think finally being able to watch the entire season means another fresh wave to downloads galore!!!! DAVID COOK!!! OH MAN!!

Not Luck but Grace
Another odd thing was that the bus was not crowded at all! NOt in any stops did passengers start crowding in which i found surprising - but I'm not complaining! As I was walking towards the jeepney, I saw my churchmate Michelle who came from Eastwood and lived in San Juan as well. We rode the jeep together and she even paid for my fare!
Call me lucky, but I think it's God's grace ;)
I feel so blessed...same with this morning's transpo incident where a taxi stopped in front of me even before i started looking for one. Another one in disguise was the flat tire that prevented me from getting stuck in the flood.
These things are mind-boggling and sometimes unbelievable but all I can say is that there's been a lot of songs and quotations written about faith and how it moves mountains but it's a whole lot different when you get to experience it.
***********
Oh, by the way, I'm now an ISEB Certified Foundation Level Tester! Our trainor says that it's worth a lot in the UK since it's the certification recognized by the British Computing Society. Cool!. I'm actually waiting for the bond, the training being $1500 and all...heheh.. .but it's all good :)

Night At the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian 2!!
I watched this with Aisa a while ago (in lieu of her 1st choice: Terminator Salvation - sorry! hehe) and the movie was hilarious! I'm not expecting a lot from this movie, just that it would make me laugh and it did not disappoint in a lot of parts.
I also liked the theme of "living in the moment" and "doing what you really love" part as taught by Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams).
Living in the moment: Sometimes, in trying to tell the world what you're up to (mobile facebook, twitter, etc), you actually miss out on what is actually happening while you were off typing away.
Doing what you really love / makes you happy: 'nuff said. In the situation I am in right now or at least most of the people in the 3rd world countries, doing what we really love is not an option; although, Pinoys are very good at being happy with what they are doing! There's joy to be found in every nook and cranny ;)
Aside from those, I also liked the singing cherubs especially when I found out that the voices were actually the Jonas Brothers!! woot! I want the soundtrack!! So far, none in the music stores or in the torrent download sites. Hmmm, I'm sure the soundtrack CD that's non-instrumental is bound to come out soon..if not, I might need to borrow iTunes money from Aldrich again..hehehe
Songs in the Soundtrack
# Motorcycle – 7th Cavalry Regiment by Traditional
# Inside the kissing painting – Bugle Call Rag by Benny Goodman & His Orchestra
# First cherub song – More Than A Woman by Jonas Brothers
# Second cherub song – My Heart Will Go On by Jonas Brothers
# Third cherub song – Lovebug by Jonas Brothers
# That’s The Way I Like It by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch
# Ride Of The Valkyries by Jonas Brothers
# Gloriana by The London Studio Orchestra and The Purcell Singers
# Reopening the museum – Let’s Groove by Earth Wind and Fire
# Last song – Life In Technicolor by Coldplay
# Closing Credits song – Fly With Me by Jonas Brothers
# Original music for Night at the Museum Battle of the Smithsonian by Alan Silvestr

Just have too many thoughts, ideas and wants!!!
I was hanging out in Fully Booked last Wednesday and came upon this board game as I was about to pay for my purchases - Oxford Dilemma Board Game. It looked interesting but was not in my 'buy now' list so I just asked for the price (Php1500) and went off.
Then when I got back in the office awhile ago, I told my officemate about my splurges and we got to talk about the board game. I googled it and hey, it IS actually interesting and I want one :(
But i want to research some more, so far I have two choices
1. Oxford Dilemma Board Game
This one is actually a spelling game with words coming from categories such as science; geography; famous people, places or things; and general. It's similar to monopoly except that you spell the word instead of draw it. Of course, the words are probably more challenging to spell.
2. Bethump'd with Words
This game is more about the etymology of words and I was able to answer some of the sample questions 5 out of 10! Not bad for someone who uses ESL.
"The questions in this edition are arranged in six levels of difficulty, each of which features these aspects of words and the English language: Accents * Acronyms * Americanisms * Australianisms * Borrowed Words * Briticisms * Calques * Canadianisms * Dinosaur Words * Eponyms * Euphemisms * History * Holorimic Phrases * Homographs * Homonyms * Homophones * Idioms * Jargon * Letter Words * Names & Nicknames * Portmanteau Words * Quotations * Sexist English * Slang * Spoonerisms * True or False * Evolving Words * Word Origins"
There's a book edition of Bethump'd with Words, I'm considering buying it first then maybe the game next if I feel that it's not enough.
Music
Aside from the obvious David Cook, I do like filling my Zen with other songs :p I know downloading albums via torrents is bad and I should support artists more...but..my kuripot side wins for songs that I'm not overly crazy about but just want to hear hehe
I'm currently downloading...
1. Jason Mraz's We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things 2008 album
2. Katy Perry - One Of The Boys (2008)
Nice (useless) Things
I bought what I thought was the plastic plant that moves with solar energy, but apparently, what i bought were double function spoons that together posed as a plant in a pot! well, it's cute looking but i still want that solar plant!

So Far, So Good
It's been such a busy month at work but I'm still glad that I'm able to insert some relaxing and exciting events in my schedule - such as Tagaytay trip with college friends, Linden suites with family, David Cook concert with Accenture friends and 2 movies with dreamspinner_ - Wolverine and Angels & Demons!!!
We were advised that we might have work again this weekend - to think that my MBA classes are gonna start this Saturday!. Well, at least I only took 1 class except that I have to wake up early on a Saturday and be at school by 8 freaking am!!! I am not a morning person, so good luck to me!
I suddenly remembered that I actually dreamnt of David Cook last night! It was awesome! In my dream, he came back to Manila and will be having a limited seats concert this Saturday! Of course, this time around, I was scrambling to get front row seats :p
Based from the YouTube videos that I've been watching, it seems that American fans are a more engaging concert audience. They really know the lyrics and sing-along and I guess the venues are smaller so those who go are really solid fans of the artist. Another thing is that not everyone is holding a video camera and recording the event. They are more intent in experiencing the event as it is transpiring than recording it for posterity. I think the former is the better option of the two.
Having said that, I just wish that I'd be able to watch a David Cook concert in the future. The how and when cannot be determined as of the moment, so my desire would have to do. (Doesn't working for ASCAP in which David is a member of have some bearing??)
We have a project portal where we can put our avatar / picture so it shows up beside the messages or comments we post on work related discussions. I changed my picture a while ago to David Cook's! Maybe someone will notice and introduce us! harhar :p
Word Nerd - Words of the week.
Definition: A keen feeling of mental unease, as of annoyance or embarrassment, caused by failure, disappointment, or a disconcerting event.
tr.v. cha·grined, cha·grin·ing, cha·grins
Personal Source: Noticed that David Cook used this twice already among the hundreds of interviews I watched. The meaning that I knew of chagrin was just embarassment, apparently it could also be annoyance.
"Much to Simon's chagrin, I came here as the word nerd and now I'm at a loss for words" - after being announced the winner of American Idol Season 7
"Much to my manager's chagrin, I am this close to getting a dog"
So I guess the one about the dog is more of annoyance.
Heady adj. (hd)
Definition:
1.
a. Intoxicating or stupefying: heady liqueur.
b. Tending to upset the mind or the balance of senses: standing on a heady outcrop of rock.
c. Serving to exhilarate: the heady news of triumph.
2.
a. Impetuous and rash: a heady outburst of anger.
b. Domineering; overbearing: too heady to reason with.
3. Swift and violent; headlong: a heady current.
4. Showing intelligence and good judgment; prudent: heady tactics.
5. Suffering from a headache: a heady, throbbing feeling.
Personal Source:
"...it's equivalent to walking into church naked - just this idea that what i'm feeling is being put on public display, it's pretty heady but i think in order for..." - David Cook on MTV Buzznet interview
I am actually not sure which of the possible definitions of heady fit this statement of his!

Word Nerd - words of the week.
tri·age (trē-äzh', trē'äzh')
Personal Source: Aldrich said this was the word used by his Texan clients in their approach with solving the multitude of issues in the application that they are working on.
Dictionary: n.
- A process for sorting injured people into groups based on their need for or likely benefit from immediate medical treatment. Triage is used in hospital emergency rooms, on battlefields, and at disaster sites when limited medical resources must be allocated.
