Fashionably Late
I told you my intestines were slow-minded, they're still at it right now. [see previous entry]. Anyways, even though it was already 1:30pm i still went to The Cooper Salon to claim my 50% off hair treatment. The salon's really nice, and Cooper means James Cooper pala! I had a hair spa which ordinarily cost P1,200 for my 'extra long' hair, but i got it for only P600! I had another coupon which i would've used if only i wasn't in a hurry to catch the 2-4pm VTR for Shampoo. I was kinda lucky because i got there at around 4:20, Ateneo time [which is always late] and there were still a number of girls waiting for their turn. Preview [the agency who told us about the VTR] even sent someone there to wait for us, how nice. When i was done, the girls from Preview left, too--meaning i was the one left that they were waiting for. Oopsie, sorry!

"A" in Promo Modeling
Frankly, i wish i would get more promo jobs because i think i have a higher percentage of getting in promos than in commercials or print-ads. So far, from all the promos/ushering go-sees that i've gone to, i got accepted 100%. I remember a veteran model telling me that i was more suited for promos. This got me thinking---is it my look? My height? or My size? Hehe. For one, i'm not good for ramp modeling because i'm not tall and thin or petite. I'd like to think that i'm 'normal'. I dunno why i'm not suited for commercials or print ads--maybe i'm too "voluptuous" for the camera, hahaha! So why am i suited for promos? I don't exactly know, why doesn't anyone tell me? I want to improve and get'promoted.'

Hmmm, let me muse some more. Beck from Cara agency was giving positive signals to Diana for the print-ad/commercial and Diana's tall and thin. However, the girl who made us up during Tina's flopped fashion show appeared in the Johnson and Johnson's commercial. She's around 5'2" and thin but not waif thin. I, therefore, conclude that thin girls get in the usual commercials. Thus. i must get thin. Yes, Mel, i am not fat but i am not thin either! Hehehe, there it goes. I just need to tone my appendages, i have lower body and arm adiposity--a new term coined by yours truly,

Can i be the size of Britney Spears? Ok, maybe Alicia Silverstone in the Clueless days would be more realistic.

...........
I'm not Invincible
Great, I'm sick! I have 38.8 degree fever. I hate being sick, esp. when my parents find out about it. They start treating me like a helpless baby! Why can't i be independent? I want to be like "a force that comes!" Full of possibilities, no limitations, superman! My Philo teacher says that most youth feel like they are like that: a force that comes! It's not fair, i mean there are guys out there who do the hot box thing and they don't seem to get sick, while i--a mere diarrhea due to days of constipation gets me down with fever. Ugh. Plans for a joyous swim/babad in a resort tomorrow at Cavite seem to have disappeared. Grrrr, i've drank medicine na, i hope i get well fast.

Yup, that's me. I want everything in an instant...which i don't get very often. This stupid fever is getting me down,,,,but i won't let it, i shall flush it away!!! I AM A FORCE THAT COMES! Then again, maybe this fever is just making me crazy!

WARNING: DON’T READ WHILE EATING!
Here I am, surfing the net, eating prunes, drinking prune juice, just took 2 Chinese laxatives…you know what I'm up to! Hehehe, the problem is my stupid intestines don't seem to have a clue to what I'm up to! They're not helping me out!!! I have a VTR tomorrow and I can't have slow-minded intestines who will just get the message I'm sending them right now tomorrow morning! Argh! Eating all these prunes are making puke! I ate a banana a while ago but it's still not helping…boohoo!

I've had this problem probably since the day I was born or maybe as young as I can remember! Back in grade school, I remember having a "food allergy" which is a term I coined. This means that at a certain point after stuffing myself with food, I get an allergy: uncontrollable sneezing, having cold sweat, difficulty breathing, red and swollen face. The "medication" for this "allergy" would be to dispose of the food--too much food--that I took in! Afterwards, everything is back to normal.

After a while, when dieting entered my consciousness, I would go on for 4 or more days of not….. I didn't really notice so it didn't bother me much. Then, it became really really difficult, I became constipated to the point that I fainted due to the difficulty. Similar symptoms to my allergy but a bit worse with the fainting and seeing black part.

This "dark era" was uplifted when I discovered Herbalife! The Fiber and Herb tablets really helped me out, and for the time span that I was taking them, I amazingly had normal movement. Remembering this still brings me tears sometimes, because you can't imagine how tough it was for me. I really never thought it was possible for me to be 'normal' on this level.

Unfortunately now, I'm back to my normal eating habits which I presume lack the sufficient amount of fiber. I think Fibrosine is too weak for me, even the Colon Cleanse tablets don't work! Sometimes I wish I'd just have diarrhea, so it'll all be so easy. Of course, I'd be losing essential fluids, too. Sigh, life is unfair.

Wish me "success." I'm going to the restroom to try and try until I succeed!
Bad Coke Mood
I actually feel bad that they kicked me out of Vanilla Coke. Well, it's not confirmed officially, of course, but what does not having shifts for the past 2 weeks mean, right? Ok so maybe not kicked out but demoted as reliever or buffer? That sucks.

This incident is really affecting my mood that I seem to have lost the drive to improve myself (meaning: work out, diet, workshops, summer plans, etc.) Right now, I feel like I'm in il y a, but I'm not because I'm saying that I am--that's consciousness. Oh, whatever.

Another thing that frustrates me is that I still haven't gotten my talent fee from my last 2 shifts! I don’t have money anymore, boohoo! My plans of meeting up with Mrs. Falcon have proved futile and here I am again waiting for her text on whether I'll meet her tonight at Eastwood. Honestly, I'm not anticipating it. I don’t know when I'm gonna get my money! I need dough for a hair treatment and I wanna buy my Oli some clothes--for a change naman diba?

……….after 2 hours…………

I'm back from Eastwood, my meeting with Mrs. Falcon pushed through! Yey, so now I'm loaded! but take note: soon to be gone again hehe! And another good thing that I found out is I wasn’t kicked out of Vanilla Coke naman pala. Mrs Falcon told us (my mom, sis and me) that Vanilla Coke's permit to hold promotions was withheld and that right now, they could only work in SM North Edsa and SM Manila yata or Fairview, something like that. Whew, what a relief! She also said that operations might get back to normal by next week…yey which means more money but there's still a bit of apprehension in me about being demoted…hehe wala lang.

The Six Meals Diet
I'm trying out another diet coz I keep on forgetting about the Zen method of eating. My new diet spaces meals at least 2 hours apart so I get to eat 6 small meals. I think this really works because it keeps the metabolism at a fast pace, which means lesser chance of diet plateaus where you get stuck with the same ugly weight forever! To convince you more, my friend Diana Sadie used this diet to somewhat prepare for the Bb. Pilipinas pageant. Get this: she went from a 27-inch to a 24-inch waistline!!! There is hope for me!!! Of course, the key word here is DISCIPLINE and CONSISTENCY. No matter how great the program, if you don't stick to it, nothing will happen.

Well, my spirits have somewhat uplifted so now I think I'm ready to pour myself into this program, I hope circumstances don't make it hard for me, though. Hehe, but I shall be ready!!!

Stupid Pre-paid ISPs!
While I'm having trouble connecting to the Internet with my 2 pathetic ISPs, let me rant about them… I bought two prepaid cards, ISP Bonanza priced at P100 and offers 24 hours of internet use and BLAST priced at P100 also but offers 9 hours of internet use. Of course ISP bonanza is less reliable but my first encounter with it wasn't so bad or maybe I had a longer patience then. But now, it's driving me nuts! It can't even finish dialing and it says that the line is busy which is not true! So I try out the more reliable BLAST, and it says that something's wrong with my connection properties blah, but I just used the exact same thing last night and it was perfectly fine! Argh! How I wish I had Destiny Cable Internet like Ann! No more dial-ups and you're always connected! Of course, I don't have the budget for that and I'm not a very very frequent internet user. So I don't know if it's worth it.

There's the point. I'm not a very frequent user na nga but in those few times that I try to get on the Internet, I still can't because of these stupid prepaid cards! Huhu lemme try connecting again…

03.27.03
I wasn't planning to show up at the go-see for a Beijing magazine editorial, but hey, who am I to refuse windows to opportunities right? So I forward the message to Diana Sadie, Mel's friend and one of the 12 finalists in Bb. Pilipinas '03, and she was going too, so I was kinda glad that I had a friend to meet at the go-see, a big contrast to the usual go-sees where I show up alone without really knowing anyone close enough.

The Big Boo-boos
When I arrived at the venue and chanced upon a mirror, I checked my top and to my utter horror, there were 3 mascara/eyeliner marks on it--standing out from my baby blue top! I felt like I lost half of the chance of getting in the project but I couldn't do anything about it at that time. Oh well. So I just improvised on the way I held my bag so that the stains wouldn't be too obvious.

As if that wasn't enough, when we finally met the people who were in charge of the magazine, we find out that they wanted to do an "abstract" magazine with the model in abstract against or blended with the scenery of the Philippines. Read my lips, by abstract they meant: NUDE! For crying out loud! And they were gonna distribute it all over Mainland china, with not just the nude bodies but the faces as well. A handful of girls walked out, politely, and rushed to the elevator lest those Chinese guys follow us and lure us into their lair. Ugh. Disgusting!

Model Misadventures
Good thing that there was another go-c that was lined up that day. Diana and I decided to go there instead, which was quite an adventure because we couldn't find stupid Cityland Herrera Tower. When finally after half and hour of going around Makati, we went down in front of a building which we thought was the Tower. That's what we thought! Turns out that we were at the Cityland Condominium and not the Tower, goodness! And the guard told us that the Tower was just nearby so we decided, in our heels, to walk to it since it was supposedly nearby. As you probably know, "dyan lang" for Pinoys could be kilometers away. Anyway, we finally got there submitted our pictures and filled out forms for CARA talent agency.

The preggy talent manager was nice and friendly and quite frank actually. She seemed to have a passion against beauty pageants, Binibining Pilipinas in particular which Diana was a part of. CSB, where Diana graduated cum laude, was on her list, too. Ironically, she was a CSB grad, too. Of course, I was not spared. She said something about how it was ---(I forgot the word she used) how those with Chinese ancestry look when they get thin and when they balloon up. I get the message. She gave me a tip, too: do bicep curls. But all in all, she was nice and kinda unconventional for a talent manager. Understandable though coz the agency's just one month old and let's just use her pregnancy as an excuse.

Personal comment: Why is it that pregnant women seem to have no qualms about showing flesh? I mean her undies were showing coz her skirt was kinda hiked up. Maybe it's hard to move when you're pregnant? I've seen other expecting mothers who act the same way. How odd.

Saving Grace..and Diana
Getting back to my story, when Diana and I were about to exit from the building, the lady guard who was manning the IDs told us to go up the 17th floor coz there was another talent agency there, PREVIEW. We couldn't understand what she was saying at first, but it seemed that she really wanted us to go there. Well, we were there na, what the heck? So we go up and do a walk-in VTR. It was truly a blessing in disguise, coz after shooting the VTR for file, they gave us 3 more VTRs to go to! VTRs for a fastfood commercial by Basic Advertising (read: Jollibee or Greenwich), facial care commercial for Screenworks, lockout for facial products but budget is 100 K! and final screening for shampoo commercial at Extreme. Although we might get lost again on our way to these venues inside Makati, I know it will be fun and a whole new experience to learn from! Another thing to be excited about is that PREVIEW is the agency of the Powerboys-Rexona commercial, the group of Bianca Gonzalez's Jollibee printad; plastered on their board are also pictures from Coke, Pepsi, Pop Cola, Del Monte Ketchup, etc. commercials. I think it's a relatively big time agency…hopefully we could be part of the "big timers." Haha, I'm dreaming!

03.26.03
Oh the joy of summer vacation!
It's 12:30 am and I just got home from Galleria without a worry about classes, requirements, teachers, etc. for tomorrow! After my final exam in History, I went straight to Oli's house and celebrated my new found freedom: summer vacation! I went with Oli to school then we had dinner at Galleria--KFC, played billiards, got coffee at Starbucks and watched the Banger Sisters. Unexpectedly, it was a pretty good movie. You know, one of those feel-good movies that also makes you think about life. Well, the message was BE TRUE TO YOURSELF.

I has so much fun that's why I'm writing about it now. I guess the prospect of being able to go out and get home late and that I have the entire summer ahead of me to do lots and lots of stuff gives me some kind of excitement and exhilaration--a certain kind of rush that I can't explain.

Pulling my feet back to the ground
Of course, nothing is perfect which is why I still can't feel the complete "jouissance" or unbridled rush for that matter. What holds me back is the thought of my grades and having the lowest QPI ever in my entire stay in Ateneo. Here are my grade scenarios.

WORST: Theo D; Philo C+; History C; Prod B+; PR B+; giving me a total QPI of 2.5!!! Ohmigosh it's horrible!

BEST but realistic: Theo C; Philo B; History B; Prod A; PR A; good enough for a QPI of 3.2. But it's still sad because I usually get 3.3 something…oh well

Do you know that I texted our Philo teaching assistant to find out where to submit the typewritten notes for the class to pull up my grades just to find out that they had already finished deliberating the final marks! Aaargh! I typed my notes from November 12, 2002 to January 16, 2003 already! What a waste, oh well.

I really wish, hope, pray that a miracle will happen and the BEST scenario will come out of my grades or kahit the PWEDE na scenario which is Theo C; Philo B; History C+; Prod B+, PR A which totals to 3.0. At least a 3.0 pretty please!!! Having a 2 something QPI is so freshman! Boohoo! I have to endure around 2 more weeks of agonizing for the verdict: April 11 is the grade distribution date.

Of baking and broadcasting…
There's really so much I want to do and accomplish this summer vacation but I'm not sure if I want to think about them coz I don't want to be disappointed. You know, planning and hoping then none of them comes true. Well, they say that hoping has no charge so I might as well think about it.

Basically, most of my plans are listed down in my previous entry--about the things that I must and should do. Additionally, I also want to improve my baking skills by trying out new stuff, enrolling in short courses for baking and also learn how to cook. Hey, you never know when you might need it!

I also vow to myself to get serious with working out at the gym and reach my ideal size and weight. I guess the weight doesn't matter as much as the size coz the size is what other people see. People won't come up to you ask your weight but they will check you out and see if your body is proportioned. I think I really, really need to do this not merely for vanity or self-fulfillment but for my work as well. Modeling is obvious but it's only a sideline; what's more important is my hoping to land a job as a broadcast journalist.

I admit that I'm not so bright and skilled as maybe Jessica Soho is or Mel Tiangco (whom I really admire) so I guess I have to play on my assets for an edge. I can be hardworking, yes, and I can look good on camera, the only worry I have is if I'm good enough. Am I journalist material, am I witty enough, am I skilled enough, do I have that x-factor thing that makes one click with the audience? I'm really unsure about myself on this level that's why I want to enroll in workshops to hone my skills. I need that confidence, not the empty cocky one but the one that brings out the best in you.

Lucky to still be a Student
Hay, the world after graduation seems to be such a scary place. Those graduates that I know keep on telling me how they miss being students and how lucky I am to still be studying. Primarily because there is still such a thing as summer vacation and the fact that you can always haggle with teachers and be irresponsible once in a while and simply make up for it next time. I guess the workplace requires a lot more responsibility and discipline than being a student could ever need. Wow, this is really scary. I hope that I'll be able to make it there and survive!

Oli and Grace
I had an especially wonderful time with my Oli these past 2 day...this means a lot since our relationship has been on the rocks lately. Well, so far I've been able to think unselfishly and of course it has done wonders to our relationship...duh! That's really my biggest problem, not only with Oli, but with friends, family, other people in general. I grew up so used to always getting my way that now INFINITY and GRACE are merely terms in my philosophy class that I study to pass...

I remember reflecting once and getting sad because although I've been learning so much from my theology and philosophy classes, I could never really apply what I've learned to my life. It's not that I can't but I just won't. You can say that it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but then as long as you're alive, there is hope! Spiro, spero.

4th Year Anniversary
Yesterday, March 21, 2003, was our 4th year anniversary together. Most people are amazed when they hear that we've been together for so long; one of our friends even said that we've been together longer than some married couples have. But what really touched my heart and I am sure, Oli's heart too, was what his barkada/friends told me...

We were at JV's birthday party Friday night (comment: it was super fun, great food and people were throwing each other in the pool) and when Oli's friends heard that it was our anniversary too, they started congratulating us--as in shaking our hands and saying congrats!. One shook my hand and said that I wouldn't be able to find a man as good as Oli. Amen to that. Four years takes much much more than sweet stuff and romance. It takes a tremendous amount of understanding, patience, sacrifice but most of all, love. Not just love, but GENUINE LOVE.

This I believe is the most important--genuine love and this with all my heart, I believe that Oli feels for m--for I have not known, felt and truly believed that someone could love me like he does. Yes, he has his flaws as we all do, but what he gives and shows to me far far outweighs his shortcomings. Just thinking of how much he loves me moves me to tears.

Five Thousand Pesos!
Do you know that we spent around P5000 last Friday! Yes, we couldn't believe it either but our nearly empty wallets don't lie! Let me recount what happened…So it was our very special day and we decided to spend it at Greenbelt 3 with the nice fountains and ambiance.

Approx.
Maid in Manhattan tickets P 260 (feel good date movie!)
Bubba Gump P1075 (super duper sarap! Try the dish named New Orleans!)
Timezone Reloads P 300 (fave game: air hockey)
Movie Food P 120 (blueberry lemonade!)
Marks and Spencer P 500 (Oli likes this dark chocolate thing )
Cosmetics P1200 (I have new lipstick and foundation, yey!)
Tears of the Sun tickets P 300 (bloody like Black Hawk Down, but sadder)
Movie Food P 120 (Chimara popcorn with sour cream and chives flavor--addicting!)
Timezone Reloads P 100 (NBA hehe)
Bearhuggs P 500 (We have a new kid and her name is Fluffy!)
--------------------------
P 4475 (Grabe!)

But hey, I don’t regret spending that much money especially my "ill-gotten wealth" coz I had so much fun and if I had more money I'd spend it too coz I can say that it was really worth it!

Oli and Grace 4EVER!

I've deleted it into cyberspace! Announcement na lang.. i have another blog, the one for my written works. I'm having trouble with it coming out pa though...

What's up? How's it going?

January 2025 became a positive turning point. I was still on edge when we went back to the Philippines for Chinese New Year. I didn't wa...
