June 30th, my friend's 21st birthday. GMA's official inaguration as President. My 3rd day at Accenture and first training day.
It's just too bad that i have work today till 5:30 pm at ever-so-traffic Makati. I'm assigned today at the police and army-laden Makati Stock Exchange and me and my groupmates had to finish self-study modules of Java--around 17 modules in all and we just finished 2 today, ARGH! I hope they don't require us to rush and finish everything by Monday because hey, it's really impossible to finish given the time frame. I don't like going overtime either for this because it's not justifiable, it was given too late, and too near the deadline. Anyway, i just really hope they won't.
I think i like Java, though theory really brings out the yawns in people. My friend Stella asked me how work was going so far and if i was having fun...
My reply: I wouldn't really call it "fun" (coz fun for me is shopping for clothes and cosmetics, eating food guilt-free and getting thinner from working out at the gym) but i feel that there's purpose in what i'm doing. I believe that i'll soon have that sense of fulfillment because of the type of work that we will do for the company. Basically, we train and preapre for the project and implement or apply what we learned in the training to the project. Very simple process, but it's enough to give me a sense of fulfillment.
I was just thinking a while ago and it's weird that my priorities seemed to have changed a lot since i started working. My make-up kit will have to rest for a while and somehow getting that latest blush from Clinique ain't so exciting anymore. I hear a voice in my head saying, "What for?" I guess the transition for model to junior software engineer is a really big one (duh! har har) But i still do want pointy, sexy shoes for work hehe. Oh, and when i'm in front of the toilet mirror, it's my hair that's the shiniest. "What for?" rings in my head again. It's a bit saddening but i'm glad i'll still have Saturday airport scheds, hopefully i won't have to go overtime and cancel my shifts.
Hmmm, i feel weird, leading 'double lives'. A model and a computer person...i'll be one of the few if not the first, hehehe.

Some Geeky Info...
Did you know that there's a 3D Printer out now in the market? (abroad, of course) Instead of just printing ink to paper, the 3D printer can print out objects, as in mugs, replacement parts, skulls--whatever you fancy! Layers of paper are stacked together and UV rays are applied to harden the shaped paper into the 3D object, how cool is that? The catch, undoubtedly, is the price. 30 grand plus plus...just almost 20 grand shy of the new Auto-Manual Audi T T sports car! Oh, i found out about his from Net 25's Fresh Gear show.
I went to Unimart/Shoppesville/Viramall a while ago and as i was searching for a place to have my ID picture taken, i passed by the lane selling lots of cellphone stuff. A man behind the counter smiled at me but i just looked past him and checked out his showcase of cellphones. I was about look the other way when i saw a Nokia 7610 in display. I stopped all of a sudden and went nearer the display case to take a closer look at the phone. I went around the case to ask the man behind the counter about the price, but before i could open my mouth, he chuckled and said, "32,200" I was surprised but my eyes lit in recognition and amusement. Now that i think about it, that man must have been sitting behind the counter and getting the same question since the shop opened! Heheheheh, well, the 7610 is a splendid phone, after all, who wouldn't be interested? =)

Another phone that i'm eyeing, but i have a feeling its gonna cost around 28 to 30+++ thousand. I don't know if i'm willing to spend that much on a "social accessory." That's coz my Nokia 8250 works just fine. I wont die without a new phone so it's not a necessity, that's my motto when i want to save. =) hehe

Thoughts Past Two
I just realized that i'm not a night creature. I mean i hadn't really thought about it unitl now that i'm texting my friend who's still at Ipanema Bar in Eastwood at this ungodly hour! 2 am, my gosh!
It's only very seldom that Oli and I get to stay out until the wee hours of the morning coz it just means extra yakking from parents and disruption of gym workout schedule and energy. Maybe we're just homebodies/eat-watch movie-shopping-then-go-home type fo people. Or maybe working out/health & fitness is more our priority in life.
It's fun to hang out in bars but both of us don't smoke, and i don't drink. Oli drinks but rarely coz sayang ung workout niya xoz of the added calories. If it were up to me, i'd rather eat a bar of yummy chocolate than drink alcohol. It tastes better and gives me that same fake feel better feeling, hahaha.
Update on my job hunting...
Accenture: I've told them that i won'd accept it yet (but i will, soon)
Global Sources: They sent me the 'We regret to inform you' letter
Buensalido & Associates: just emailed my resume
Pink Mag: Jane Kingsu just got my resume
Summit: I just dropped off my requirements
I feel silly coz i've already set my mind in accepting Accenture (after thinking for 2 weeks, i hope they still have space for me) but i still passed my resume to the other companies. Hehe, i just want to know if i'll get in, especially in Summit and Pink.
If you ask me, i know that i'll be more in my element working for the two publication companies, however, they can wait. I've finally straightened out my goals...what i want to become or have in 5-10 years time. Well, if you have to know, it's having enough money to settle down (meaning buty a house, a car, start a family).
As i wrote in my Ateneo Application form, i want to become a housewife in the future. Hmm, but maybe a housewife/businesswoman would be beter. So "being in my element" would have to come later on when i'm financially more stable so i can enjoy it more. I'll work my way up the IT ladder first and achieve my goals. =)

Posting because my friend told me to! Hahaha
Well, i'm just 'bumming' around at the airport--gossiping, answering crosswords, reading novels, self-help books, broadsheets--until my six-hour shift is finally over. Kinda boring, really.
I'm in no hurry to find a real job since a have a 'fake' one (that's a joke) that pays really high, but i still check out the classified ads and apply when i have time.
Take for example my exam at Global Sources yesterday which was a 5 hour technical/business writing exam. My right hand was trembling after i finished the test! It wasn't really all technical, it's hard to describe, i'll just tell you about it...
First test: Write an editorial about what the next Philippine President should focus on--poverty, education or peace and order. 500 words, 45 minutes.
Second test: Write a feature article on My Favorite...nothing cutsie please! 500 words, 45 minutes
Third test: Rewrite and revise an article/announcement written by a Chinese associate (Very bad grammar, sentence construction, everything!) 45 minutes
Fourth test: Write a press release on an internal message of the company's CEO. 400 words, 45 minutes.
Final test: Freedom board. Write why you think you are qualified for the Communications Assistant position? 300 words, 20 minutes.
Whew! and the girl beside me previously worked at PCIJ (Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism). Talk about intimidating! But she seemed wary about the advantage of having basic HTML and Chinese language knowledge. At least, I'm qualified on those two, hehehe.
What is Global Sources? Its the leader in the field of creating and facilitating global trade between buyers and supplier at the right time and using the right format. Hahaha, i got that from their website.
Hmmm, what else has been happening in my life? Still fat, if anyone wants to know. Stil trying to lose weight, but having very little progress, my fault, of course!
Oh my wallet got stolen! I had around 2000 there, my ATM Card and memorabilia like movie tickets, neoprints, Thai Baht, etc. Tsk, tsk. I dont' even know where i lost it! I just found out that it was gone the day after i last saw it, very pathetic. So now, i'm trying to save money as much as i can. THis means no Nokia 6230 yet, huhu, i shall wait till July or someting.

I'm a person who wants immediate gratification, patience is not one of my strong virtues. Hahaha
Recently, i'm kinda inspired to go to the gym...i should pursue this interest while it's still here! Never know when i'll suddenly fall back into my eat-sleep lifestyle again!

I'M SO WEIRD and DIRECTIONLESS!
I've just decided to go ahead to the BPI job fair and apply for the Management Trainee Position. I think i'm qualified since they didn't mention that the applicant should have a business or management related degree.
So now, i'm researching on the net, to find out what it means to work for a bank!
One of the requirements was "strong interest to pursue a banking career"
What does a banker do, anyway? I'm so clueless! I'm sooo pathetic!
Hmmmm...I seem to go for anything that provides a good compensation package. I'm really attracted to the working hours of a bank. Monday to Friday only, fixed time, benefits and bonuses, etc. It sounds so stable and so family-oriented. That's the direction that i want to take in my life.
My friend Dior also told me to apply at Public Relations Firms as an Accounts Executive coz they have fixed time of work, too. There's also some writing involved but then that's public relations writing--which i don't really like.
Why? Coz press releases reek of sugary sweet stuff and all the filth are hidden. My journalistic instincts don't take that very well.
If i were to write or to purse a career in communications or anything related to my course--it should definitely be something that i really really like. Meaning, writing for a newspaper or magazine--lifestyle/health/features/reviews those kinds of stuff.
If i were not to go into a communications related job then i want to get one with a great compensation package and something that would provide training and development. I'm not stupid to let myself get stuck in a job that i don't love and don't get paid well, either!
There...so i'm not so directionless after all. But, i'd need to prepare answers when i get interviewed coz of course i can't tell them what i mentioned above hehehe.
