I'm actually thinking of overloading Electronic Publishing, i think that's about Adobe Pagemaker coz it's at least connected with journalism: for layouting purposes. Hmmmm, i'm not sure yet though coz i might feel llike superwoman right now but what about during the school year when the load of Philo, Theo, History weigh me down, not to mention Guidon and the Axis thing if i get accepted?
If i overload, i'll have 21 units--a first for me ever! Well, i still got weeks to think about it. I just wish i'd know someone in the 175 class...

Don't you just love having the luxury to take a long afternoon nap? Yep..and I just did that! I slept from 2pm to 6:30pm!! And that's just the start of me making up for all the lost sleep I had because of that stupid practicum!
We had pre-enlistment for comm subjects a while ago and people seemed satisfied and even wanting more of their practicums, oh how I envy them! Dior was telling us how she, after days of griping about being in the entertainment division, learned to lower the "Atenean pride" and just do what she has to do. She said that was the time when she finally ENJOYED her practicum.
Yeah, I know I should've done that. I guess I was expecting too much from my practicum. I focused so much on wanting to be in News or Public Affairs that I totally shut out the possibility of enjoying or learning something in S.A.I.N.N. (Sana ay Ikaw na Nga). …
I don’t know. I'm trying to be open-minded here but there's really something missing. I understand that I could have enjoyed but I'm not sure if I could have learned enough. What did I learn? Latest artistsa gossip vs inside stuff on news and public affairs reports? Sigh, I simply can't stop comparing. Being a P.A, at least, in News and Public Affairs really beats being a P.A. in the entertainment division and a soap opera at that? What are the chances of growth and learning something new from a soap opera? Nothing's current but just pure drama on the outlandish romance of Carlos Miguel and Cecilia. .
Handling Rejection
Last Thursday, I got to the second stage of a fashion show screening for the launching of new Preview models. I was told to go to the Cinderella main office for a go see for the Fashion Frenzy @ the Shang. Everything seemed ok, and while we were waiting one of the coordinators told us that they were looking for mature-looking models. I didn't feel threatened much because among my buddies there, I was the oldest! They were aged 16-19 and I'm turning 21, so what's to worry, right? Well, after half an hour, the verdict was out and I was wrong. I should have worried. I, along with a 16 year old was politely told to go home and just wait for further notice because the Cinderella people found us too young looking. I'M YOUNG LOOKING?!!! What!?
Ugh. Regret always comes last and boy am I regretting. I should have known better, I should've fixed myself up more. Oh well. My friend Alexandra Fu told me to use rejection as a stepping stone and not get down from the experience. That's true, I shall take this as a wake-up call to give my best in every screening or VTR. How would they know what I'm really made of if don't give them the chance to see it right?
Although I'm not part of the fashion show anymore, I'll still be at the PREVIEW launch of new faces on May 24 at the Shangrila-mall. I'll keep you posted for further details.

I just officially quit the Circle of 10 Image Model Search.
The biggest factor that convinced me to quit is the 1 year exclusive contract with IVAN Entertainment (the producer of the pageant) for just being an official candidate of the search. I like being able to have freedom to choose among opportunities that come my way and being exclusive to one company takes away that freedom. They can't even guarantee that those who joined the search would bag commercials and other modeling jobs.
The good side of this search are the workshops that they give. As of now its for free but it won't be when we pay for "opportunity costs" because of the contract with them. I'd really like to undergo modeling and personality development workshops but I'd rather pay for workshops than sign exclusive contracts for "free" ones.
37 hours more to go and I'm free at last from my practicum at GMA 7. Sounds like I don't like it, right? Yup, you're right.
It also seems that all I've learned is to do IDs for scenes. The director himself told us that anyone can do IDs. Translate: "That's all you've learned? You've learned nothing!" Upon hearing this, the lighting crew tried to be helpful by telling me the kinds of lights used in shooting: a 2k and a 6K and why the brand is called ARRILITE. I appreciate their concern but I have very slight interest with production. One elective is enough because I'm not planning to make a career out of it. So why am I having a production-centered practicum? Ask Kristine Berango, the GMA Practicum Director.
Mel told me that Kristine didn't really place each practicumer in a show related to his/her track/course. If so, what's the point of the whole practicum, then? To prepare us for the horrible truth that we won't land the job we like and studied hard for? CRAP!
I'm watching NEWS Central right now and Jinggoy is requesting to travel with his family to the US so that his children will have the opportunity to learn more about the culture of other countries since it's summer vacation, anyway. Yeah, right! Is he stupid or what? If that's his reason then every detained suspect starting from the drug lord down to the petty thief can ask for the same thing! Ugh! The fact that such a request has been made reflects the defective justice system of the country. Pathetic!
More interesting news…front page today on the Philippine Daily Inquirer, unfortunately PDI's website isn't updated! So I had to get this news from the Salt Lake Tribune. Talk about another pathetic thing in this country!

Elephant Turns Highway Into Crcus
The Associated Press
MANILA, Philippines -- An elephant escaped from a circus Thursday and ran among pedestrians and motorists on a busy Philippine highway before a truck driver blocked its escape.
Twenty-one-year-old Jumbo, the biggest of 10 elephants from Thailand performing in the "Elephant World" show at the Araneta Center in suburban Quezon City, was about to be showered but became "agitated" because of the summer heat and broke free, said Shige Ijima, a son of the show's promoter.
A staffer at the Araneta Center said the elephant's handler called in sick and another trainer took over, but the animal was not used to being handled by another person, she said.
Motorcycle police cleared the way for the elephant as it lumbered northward against the flow of traffic on the congested highway before reaching a busy intersection.
Two handlers grabbed a steel chain attached to one of Jumbo's legs as he hesitated when an empty beer truck blocked the road. They then wrapped the chain around a tree.
The handlers fed him bananas before they injected tranquilizers. The elephant used its snout to slurp up pools of water and mud to spray on its back.
Hundreds of residents, many of them children seeing a live elephant for the first time, cheered the impromptu show.
"We don't have money to watch the elephants, but now we can watch all we want. Thank you," Lourdes Cruz said.
More than six hours after escaping, the elephant finally succumbed to the tranquilizers. Workers tied Jumbo up to a crane, but the rope came loose and the elephant fell on his back, his tusks damaging the rear of a taxi parked nearby.
There was no immediate word on whether it was seriously hurt.
The elephant was later lifted onto the back of a truck and returned to the circus.

Still Unhappy with Practicum
I've already gone to 2 tapings and 2 pre-production meetings but i'm still unhappy with my practicum. Do you know that we now have to follow a schedule? Mine is
- Monday 2:00 pm- 8:00 pm
Tuesday 7:00 am- 12:00 mn
Wednesday 2:00 pm- 8:00 pm
Thursday 7:00 am- 12:00 mn
Okay, you'd probably say that it's good since i don't have a weekend sked, but it's not good because there's still practicum on those days, i'm just not available. I wish i just had a 9-5 job. I'd like it better that way. Although i go home relatively earlier than my practicum mates during tapings (they go home pack-up time, around 3:00 am in the morning), i still don't like it! Imagine, going home at 12 midnight! It's like i don't have a life, it's much worse than when i had classes!
IN THE FIRST PLACE, i don't want to be in production! People there are saying that it's a test of whether we think we can stand the rigors of production, but hello it doesn't apply to me coz i want to be ON CAM not behind it! I really wish they just place me in the NEWS department or ask me to write or to research! Dior's friend who's in the news dept said that although they were mostly asked to edit the newscast, they pick up some tips on how to make newscasts and what it requires.
This is SAD. Now, i'm wondering if i'd learn more if i had my practicum in ABS-CBN? Or if i had my practicum at COSMO or PINK or CHALK? I GUESS I'D NEVER KNOW...
Sometimes, i think i might just be sourgraping but i really don't feel at ease and i really don't like having this kind of practicum! I don't have time for anything! I don't even know if i like to go into broadcasting with the erratic schedule and all! Maybe i'll just put up my own business. I hate erratic schedules! And i heard that CCA has one, too. How sad. Modeling has the same erratic sched but at least i get paid! But still..why is it that the things i'm into require erratic schedules? BOOHOo, am i doomed for life?
i wonder if i should just go into something that would simply require a desk job, a 9-5 air conditioned office job???? i don't know! My mind is in a jumble now and i have to wake up at 3:30 because pull-out time to go to the taping tom is 4:30 am! Shooting is at Pila, Laguna coz that's where the church for Carlos Miguel and Rosemarie's wedding will be....Sigh.
Being a bridesmaid in the wedding tomorrow is not enough to cheer me up....sigh.
