Are IT professionals in Asia paid their worth?
ZDNet Asia conducted a survey on the Internet between Aug. 25 and Nov. 6, 2006, to gain insights into Asia's IT workforce and salary trends. The survey drew 5,090 respondents from industry sectors such as government, healthcare, IT, services, telecommunications, legal and finance, across seven Asian countries: Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Among the findings: IT management skills are much-sought-after and command the highest renumeration, while the best-paying IT jobs are in Hong Kong, followed by Singapore.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Part 2 of 2)
First Part of Review (1 of 2)
There! I was able to watch HP 5 the movie again last Thursday night, and this time at the Greenbelt Cinema 1 Theater (thank you, Accenture).
As most people told me, I was able to enjoy the movie more the second time around. You've finished analyzing and criticizing and you're really just there for the sensual experience of the movie.
I think i noticed and appreciated more things since I was not fumbling with any 3D glasses during the fight scene.
The Verdict: The Same! It was good, but it could still be better!
I watched it the second time and it was more enjoyable, yet that sense of lack was still there. The feeling that something was missing, where's the oomph?
Anyway, it's not important anymore... because the 7th book is coming tomorrow!! I have to wait for Aldrich to finish his before i can borrow and read...it should be worth the wait :)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (1 of 2 parts)
Here is my initial review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie shown at IMAX 3D theater in SM Mall of Asia
IMAX
I didn't notice much of a difference when i watched the movie in 3D :( I even had to wear my eyeglasses before i wore the 3D glasses coz i kept seeing an annoying shadow on my left eye! 400 bucks for IMAX.. not really worth it. I'll give more feedback when i watch in a normal theater on Thursday..
HP 5 the movie
Note: I READ THE BOOK!
It was nice, but it could have been better. Overall i felt that the movie was too quick-paced and that everything went by in blur. Why wouldn't it since the movie was only 2 hours and 18 minutes! The shortest compared to other movies even though HP5 is the thickest book by far.
When the movie was over, i felt a sense of lack. It was like a 'quickie'. No foreplay, no making love to the camera.
I wish they had emphasized the fight scene more by doing slow motion effects on it. Didn't they understand the difference between practicing spells in the Room of Requirement versus fighting the Death Eaters and Voldemort in real life? It was supposed to be a culminating scene!!! Like a square-off between good and evil. The current fight scene effects were good but they can be better emphasized.
And where was Fawkes - Dumbledore's trusted Phoenix who would swallow the Avada Kedavra curse that Voldemort hurls at Dumbledore at the same time that the basilisk would also bite him??? Why was that left out? I had already accepted the statues not moving, although i was a bit disappointed. But to leave out that almost certain death sequence of Dumbledore is unthinkable!
The powers and talents of the characters weren't played up enough for the events to come in the next book..which i guess makes it more magical and mysterious?? What where they thinking?

Cerealicious!!!
**I'm feeling restless again, so I'm blogging about exciting and happy places I've been to***
Cerealicious! I'm a certified cereal addict! I cannot bear pass up cereal if it's served for breakfast especially in a hotel buffet! Just imagine my elation when i heard about Cerealicious!! It's right across Bro. Andrew Building (new building of DLSU) in Taft Avenue!
The owner seems like a cereal + movie enthusiast, thus, the movie-related names of the store's menu. Check it out :)

I was restless majority of the time... our massage didn't push through, but I didn't make a fuss about it..
Not much to do.. just eat, swim, stay in the room. We should have known better and prepared activites or asked the people there what we could do...
The rooms were cute yes, the food was good, yes (altho i couldn't enjoy it fully since i was on a diet) but what else?
Where's the banig under the tree for stargazing at night?
Where was the well-lit house in the pictures?
It was really a dark, dark night on July 7. There were no stars...

Sayang Ang Miles!!!
Kainis, sayang ang miles! I was browsing the Mabuhay Miles website to check my points when I noticed a banner ad flashing on top - it was the Smart - Mabuhay Miles Promo! It's ongoing until Oct 2007 and all you need to do is register and you earn miles everytime you use Smart's International Services!
What the?!! Why didn't anyone tell me about this??? I had my International Roaming personally activated in the Smart Wireless Center and no one told me about this??
What use is this Smart - Mabuhay Miles promo if service personnel themselves do not recommend the use of this service???
I cannot understand! I used up Php3,000++ SMS and calls while I was on cruise last May! But all that was put to waste because i was not informed of a really great promo!
It's true that they probably sent a flyer along with one of my billing statements, but how hard is it reinforce? It was a golden opportunity -- I was having my international roaming activated and the CSR could have just told me about it. I would have been elated.
Haay.. kainis talaga!! Sayang ang Miles! Hmph :(
