03.27.03
I wasn't planning to show up at the go-see for a Beijing magazine editorial, but hey, who am I to refuse windows to opportunities right? So I forward the message to Diana Sadie, Mel's friend and one of the 12 finalists in Bb. Pilipinas '03, and she was going too, so I was kinda glad that I had a friend to meet at the go-see, a big contrast to the usual go-sees where I show up alone without really knowing anyone close enough.

The Big Boo-boos
When I arrived at the venue and chanced upon a mirror, I checked my top and to my utter horror, there were 3 mascara/eyeliner marks on it--standing out from my baby blue top! I felt like I lost half of the chance of getting in the project but I couldn't do anything about it at that time. Oh well. So I just improvised on the way I held my bag so that the stains wouldn't be too obvious.

As if that wasn't enough, when we finally met the people who were in charge of the magazine, we find out that they wanted to do an "abstract" magazine with the model in abstract against or blended with the scenery of the Philippines. Read my lips, by abstract they meant: NUDE! For crying out loud! And they were gonna distribute it all over Mainland china, with not just the nude bodies but the faces as well. A handful of girls walked out, politely, and rushed to the elevator lest those Chinese guys follow us and lure us into their lair. Ugh. Disgusting!

Model Misadventures
Good thing that there was another go-c that was lined up that day. Diana and I decided to go there instead, which was quite an adventure because we couldn't find stupid Cityland Herrera Tower. When finally after half and hour of going around Makati, we went down in front of a building which we thought was the Tower. That's what we thought! Turns out that we were at the Cityland Condominium and not the Tower, goodness! And the guard told us that the Tower was just nearby so we decided, in our heels, to walk to it since it was supposedly nearby. As you probably know, "dyan lang" for Pinoys could be kilometers away. Anyway, we finally got there submitted our pictures and filled out forms for CARA talent agency.

The preggy talent manager was nice and friendly and quite frank actually. She seemed to have a passion against beauty pageants, Binibining Pilipinas in particular which Diana was a part of. CSB, where Diana graduated cum laude, was on her list, too. Ironically, she was a CSB grad, too. Of course, I was not spared. She said something about how it was ---(I forgot the word she used) how those with Chinese ancestry look when they get thin and when they balloon up. I get the message. She gave me a tip, too: do bicep curls. But all in all, she was nice and kinda unconventional for a talent manager. Understandable though coz the agency's just one month old and let's just use her pregnancy as an excuse.

Personal comment: Why is it that pregnant women seem to have no qualms about showing flesh? I mean her undies were showing coz her skirt was kinda hiked up. Maybe it's hard to move when you're pregnant? I've seen other expecting mothers who act the same way. How odd.

Saving Grace..and Diana
Getting back to my story, when Diana and I were about to exit from the building, the lady guard who was manning the IDs told us to go up the 17th floor coz there was another talent agency there, PREVIEW. We couldn't understand what she was saying at first, but it seemed that she really wanted us to go there. Well, we were there na, what the heck? So we go up and do a walk-in VTR. It was truly a blessing in disguise, coz after shooting the VTR for file, they gave us 3 more VTRs to go to! VTRs for a fastfood commercial by Basic Advertising (read: Jollibee or Greenwich), facial care commercial for Screenworks, lockout for facial products but budget is 100 K! and final screening for shampoo commercial at Extreme. Although we might get lost again on our way to these venues inside Makati, I know it will be fun and a whole new experience to learn from! Another thing to be excited about is that PREVIEW is the agency of the Powerboys-Rexona commercial, the group of Bianca Gonzalez's Jollibee printad; plastered on their board are also pictures from Coke, Pepsi, Pop Cola, Del Monte Ketchup, etc. commercials. I think it's a relatively big time agency…hopefully we could be part of the "big timers." Haha, I'm dreaming!
